After more than 50 years in farming and 30 years in retail in Calgary and Edmonton, the Sunterra Market family is excited to announce our expansion into Red Deer!

Conveniently located in Bower Place, our new 20,000 square foot market is a one-of-a-kind shopping experience featuring all the full shop grocery brands that customers know and love, along with our unique market-made goods and local farmers’ market favourites. Our team members are excited to bring this experience to new friends in Red Deer who love food and appreciate value. 

We’ve been asked many times about why we chose Red Deer to be the location of our ninth retail market, and the answer is quite simple. Sunterra Market is an Alberta based company with our farming and meat operations located in nearby Acme and Trochu, and Red Deer is situated in the middle of our Calgary and Edmonton markets. When the landlords of Bower Place approached us with the opportunity and explained their unique vision to us, we knew it was a perfect match.

Our new two-level market in Bower Place includes the best of all we do across our market locations: full shop grocery including hand-picked produce, farm-fresh meats, market-baked goods, chef prepared meals and your favourite grocery products. Hot meals from our fresh pasta, pizza, piadina, breakfast and rotisserie stations will also be available. Additionally, you’ll find a freshly-squeezed juice, smoothie and salad bar, a café with a full Lavazza coffee offering, market-baked pastries and local gelato. Our new Red Deer community can also enjoy catering, online grocery delivery and curbside pickup as part of our service offerings.

Shoppers will be able to stop by the interactive chef station for some educational fun! Learn new cooking methods, simple recipes and cooking techniques, and try exciting new products from our vendors. 

For those who are short on time (or just don’t feel like cooking!) our Three-Course Feasts, Meal Kits, Seasonal Feasts and other grab ‘n’ go prepared meals make a great addition to your shopping list - all you have to do is heat and eat! Our made to order meals are available for dine-in or take-out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 

On the mezzanine level, you’ll find our COMMUNITYtable - an event space designed for cooking classes and a meeting room for the community. This beautiful space overlooks the bustling market below and can be used for team building events, meetings and more. Fully equipped with an audio visual system, the COMMUNITYtable is a great place to gather when safe to do so. 

We will also be centralizing our bread program - all bread for all Sunterra Markets in all 3 cities will be made in Red Deer. 

Designing and building a new location in a new community during a pandemic has been a unique experience with many unprecedented challenges and opportunities. We have been working closely with local Red Deer contractors, suppliers, and businesses to bring this store to life, and we are proud to support our community. With this new location, we are also eager to welcome 130 new part-time and full-time team members to the Sunterra Market family.

We are so excited to bring our market concept to Bower Place and share our love of food with the Red Deer community, and we can’t wait to meet you!
