You will be actively involved in the preparation, packaging, and presentation of a variety of kitchen products for both dine-in and takeout. You’ll follow standardized recipes, maintain attractive displays, and ensure that all department and store goals—as communicated by the Market Manager and leadership team—are consistently met or exceeded. You will ensure a positive company image by providing legendary customer service. Your ability to share product knowledge, suggest complementary items, and create memorable moments will help build lasting customer relationships and a strong sense of community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Customer Experience• Give every customer immediate and undivided attention.
• Provide legendary customer service with genuine enthusiasm and attentiveness.
• Take and fulfill special orders with care and accuracy.
• Follow through on all customer questions and requests.
• Offer thoughtful suggestions and product recommendations, including pairing ideas.
• Share in-depth product knowledge, including preparation tips, ingredient details, and seasonal features.
Food Preparation & Merchandising
• Prepare, season, and portion food items according to standardized recipes for both dine-in and takeout.
• Assist kitchen cooks with prep and production as needed.
• Portion and serve various fresh products from the deli cases.
• Weigh products using scales and print accurate labels.
• Properly package and wrap products for retail sale.
• Set and maintain attractive, fresh, and well-stocked displays and shelves.
• Ensure accurate signage and pricing, and rotate products to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
• Be aware of new products, features, and their placement in the department.
Team Collaboration & Cleanliness
• Support the Kitchen Team Lead with daily kitchen functions and production schedules.
• Communicate effectively with team members and leadership to ensure smooth operations.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Clean and maintain workstations, equipment, and deli cases throughout the shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Market Manage
Qualifications:
Qualifications• Previous experience in food preparation or customer service preferred.
• A genuine interest in food, ingredients, and culinary trends.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging demeanor.
• Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and perform physical tasks safely.
• Flexible availability to meet business needs.
• WHMIS and Food Safety certification (training provided by Sunterra).
Working Conditions
• Standing and walking for extended periods.
• Exposure to cold and wet conditions in refrigerated environments.
• Repetitive lifting (up to 40 lbs; team lift required for heavier items).
• Use of sharp tools, slicers, and other kitchen equipment.
• Frequent reaching, bending, and occasional use of ladders or stools.
