You might already be a cauliflower connoisseur. But for those of us who grew up with cauliflower strictly as a steamed side dish or stacked onto a raw veggie tray, here are four simply delicious ways to cook with this crunchy vegetable. And if you've spotted different colours of cauliflower and are curious, you can read about coloured cauliflower here.
Cauliflower Rice
This has been popular for a few years, especially among people looking for a lower-carb diet. It's a great way to sneak more vegetables onto your plate, but more importantly, it tastes delicious. Seriously. Just chop a head of cauliflower into florets and pulse them in a food processor until the pieces are about the same size as grains of rice. Pan-fry with a little oil or butter for just a few minutes until the "rice" is tender. And you're done, easy as that. Or try our spiced-up turmeric cauliflower rice recipe here.
Cauliflower Wings
You'll find these in restaurants, but you can make your own at home using the oven instead of a deep fryer. You'll still want to batter them but the oven roasting will caramelize the sauce for delicious crispy bites. Check out Gimme Delicious for their baked Buffalo cauliflower wings recipe (it even includes vegan options).
Cauliflower Curry
Cauliflower goes well with Indian sauces like tikka masala, vindaloo, korma, coconut curry and even butter chicken. Swap your meat for cauliflower florets, or use a mixture of both. If you don't want to make your own sauce, we recommend The Curry Queen's local (and amazing) jarred sauces.
Roasted Cauliflower Soup with Gruyere
Roasting the cauliflower adds a depth of flavour to this creamy soup. The darker colour you get on the cauliflower, the more roasted flavour you'll get. Find the full recipe here.
