Deli Team Lead - Keynote - Calgary

The Deli Team Lead manages, plans, organizes, directs, and controls the operations of the Deli and Cheese Department. The role will include setting and maintaining attractive fresh produce displays and assure that all objectives and goals of the department and store, as communicated by the Market Manager are met or exceeded. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to Sunterra Legendary customer service, natural leadership abilities, a solid work ethic and a passion for food. The applicant will be an effective and confident communicator, and lead by example. Duties and Responsibilities:

- Coordinate and plan the schedule for Deli Department Team Members.
- Train and order Deli & Cheese items as required.
- Maintain and evaluate records of stock, sales and wastage.
- Ensure that Sunterra’s food quality and service standards are met.
- Maintain sales revenue and wastage and make suggestions for procedures and price changes.
- Establish methods to meet completion schedules
- Control and maintain records of inventory, monitor product cost and inform management
- Resolve customer complaints and ensure health and safety regulations are followed
- Follow and monitor sanitary checklists and temperature log sheets
- Follow Sunterra Standardized Recipes and all other related Sunterra Policies
- Assist and support the Deli Team with all departmental functions.
- Follow through on all customer questions, special orders and requests.
- Clean, peel, slice and trim meat and cheese using manual, or electric appliances where appropriate.
- Portion, weigh, and package food for customers to take out.
- Understand hazards and follow safety procedures when working with slicing equipment.
- Prepare food such as sandwiches, boxed salads, deli salads etc.
- Stock refrigerators and displays and keep accurate records of the quantities of food used by utilizing prep charts.
- Vast product knowledge for customer inquiries.
- Keep all cases and shelves clean, well-stocked and properly rotated.
- Follow established food safety, cleaning, and maintenance procedures.
- Maintain accurate retail pricing and signage.
- Oversee sampling of department products to customers.
- Be aware of new products and their placement.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Market Manager.
- Customer Service Experience must.
- Supervisory experience an asset.
- Effective communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Welcomes and connects with every customer creating a memorable market experience.
- Demonstrates and models for department a “Can do” attitude by going above and beyond for customers.
- Demonstrates a positive, solution orientated mindset towards leading a cohesive team.
- Familiarity with different types of deli meats and optional cuts.
- Knowledge of cheese varietals.
- Experience with meat/cheese slicer.
- Basic knife skills.
- Ability to work well within a team.
- Can lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be self-motivated and solution oriented.
- Is available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department.
- WHIMS certification requirement (Sunterra will provide online training)
- Food Safety certification requirement (Sunterra will provide online training)

Working Conditions:

- Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time.
- Some exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
- Caution while working with meat slicers and knives.
- May walk and work on uneven surfaces.
- Requires some reaching above and below shoulder height.
- Repetitive use of hands with power grasping and fine manipulation.
