To Our Valued Customers and Team Members,
Sunterra is working to serve our customers and our communities at this challenging time, and we are grateful for our hard-working Team Members and loyal customers. We continue to work closely with our health authorities to adjust and adapt to make our markets a very safe place to shop and work. Nothing is more important than the health of our Team Members and our customers.
We remain in regular contact with Alberta Health Services and our Team Members as it relates to our Covid-19 response.
I am pleased to report the central commissary team member that tested positive on April 18th did not experience any severe symptoms and has fully recovered at home.
Since the first positive Covid-19 test that occurred almost two weeks ago, we have been notified that four more of our team members have tested positive.
Three of the four new positive tests also worked at our central commissary, and like our first case, did not have any direct contact with customers. These team members developed minor symptoms while in self-isolation. All three of these team members have not worked since Monday, April 20th and have been in self-isolation since then (due to precautions taken after the first positive test). All three are doing well and are either symptom free or have recently developed mild symptoms and are recovering at home. We are very focused on making sure they have the support and care that they require to recover quickly and completely.
The other team member who tested positive was part of our Sunterra Keynote team. We were not immediately informed of this positive test that occurred on Thursday April 15th. This team member last worked on Sunday April 12th (17 days ago). We are pleased to report that this team member is doing well.
We do not have any positive test results of any of our team members working in our farming and meat processing operations.
You can refer to our enhanced market safety measures we have put in place on our website here. We continue to follow the guidelines set forth by Alberta Health Services and update our protocols and procedures as necessary. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us in the Contact Us section of our web site. We are very grateful for the good health and diligence of our team working in our markets as they focus on serving you and to keeping you safe and healthy.

To Our Valued Customers and Team Members,
As part of our commitment to provide full transparency to our community we want to inform you Sunterra was contacted on the evening of April 20th by Alberta Health Services to inform us one of our Calgary team members has tested positive for COVID-19. This is our first confirmed case where a team member has tested positive and our immediate concern is for that team member’s health. We are staying in close contact with them and wish them a speedy recovery. The individual is following AHS procedure and is self-isolating at home and at this time doing well.
We worked closely with Alberta Health Services to identify other team members who may have been in direct contact with the individual. Five additional teammates were identified and they are also following AHS recommendations to self-isolate and are currently symptom-free.
Our affected team member did not work in a market location but worked in a shipper capacity in our central commissary in Calgary. They had limited contact with other team members, no contact with our customers and were not involved in food production. Their last shift worked was Thursday, April 16.
We have temporarily closed the commissary, not because we were instructed to do so, but because we felt it was important to pause and to communicate with our team members. We have also deep cleaned this location and have been notified by AHS that we have exceeded the recommended actions.
You can refer to the market safety measures we have put in place on our website here. These measures include mandatory check-ins with each employee upon arrival for their shifts for signs of possible symptoms, increased sanitization and cleaning, and physical distancing. We will continue to follow the guidelines set forth by Alberta health authorities and update our protocols as needed.
This closure will not impact our essential services to you and we want to assure you of our commitment. No market locations have closed as a result. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to us in the Contact Us section of our web site. We want to thank our contacts at Alberta Health Services for their support and all that they do for our communities.
